Law 4548/2018 “Reformation of the Law of Societe Anonyme”

The recently enacted Law 4548/2018 “Reformation of the Law of Societe Anonyme” (Government Gazette Issue A 104 / 13.06.2018), which entered into force on 01.01.2019, abolished the majority of articles of Codified Law 2190/1920, which until 31.12.2018 constituted the legal framework for the operation of Societe Anonyme. Law 4548/2018 attempts to modernize the regulations governing Societe Anonyme and is part of the general reform of the laws regarding capital companies.

Furthermore, provisions on Societe Anonyme included in various other laws were codified, several issues were clarified, and new regulations introduced to make the company law simpler for domestic businessmen and more attractive to foreign investment.
